The one and only collectors gripe about the new modern Explorer II Ref. 226570, and some of the earlier modern variants has to do with the case sizing being too large at 42mm.
This edition was produced from 2011 to 2021 and was launched for the model’s 40th anniversary. It paid a discreet tribute to the earliest generation with an oversized orange 24h hand. The case became larger, at 42mm, the radial-brushed bezel remained fixed but with even bolder markings.
Meet the ref. 226570 the latest take on the famous 4-hander from the world’s most important watchmaker. This is about what we expected, and thankfully, there aren’t too many surprises as regards the design. (God forbid the brand should mess too much with a good thing — there would be torches and pitchforks converging on Geneva.)
